13 countries which party to the Banjul Protocol on Marks can be designated in an ARIPO trademark application. These are Botswana, Cape Verde, Gambia, Lesotho, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Sao Tome and Principe, Eswatini, Uganda, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.
The process takes between 12 - 18 months to complete for straight-forward cases.
