Gambia Patents Law

Term of protection - 15 years
Annuities are payable from the first anniversary of the filing
The protection term of a patent can be extended by five years provided that proof of using the patent is submitted
A grace period of six months is allowed for the late payment of the annuities with penalty

Gambia Industrial Designs Law

Design registration can be extended for two further terms of five years each
A grace period of six months is provided for the late payment of the renewal fees with penalty

Trademark Review

Publication

After the examination process, the trademark is published and third parties may submit an opposition against it being registered. Your lawyers' role is to address and respond to any oppositions and ensure that your trademark proceeds to registration.

Registration

After the opposition period, your trademark is registered and a certificate of registration is issued.
